Cyber Security Preparedness Briefing by the FBI on 1/27/16

Howard County's Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) will be hosting FBI Supervisory Special Agent Daniel Gray on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 in Ellicott City during the second half of their quarterly meeting to speak on the topic of Cyber Security Preparedness.


Mr. Gray is responsible for the management and coordination of all FBI Cyber Investigations for Maryland and Delaware, and was formerly the Assistant Section Chief of FBI Cyber Division’s former Cyber National Security Section.

Event Description:

Our next Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) meeting will be held January 27th, 2015 from 9:30 am – 11:30 am at the Roger Carter Community Center at 3000 Milltowne Dr, Ellicott City, MD.

During the first hour of the meeting, brief-outs will be provided by Howard County Health Department, Howard County Office of Emergency Management, Howard County Department of Fire & Rescue, and Howard County Police Department.

The second hour will be dedicated to our guest speaker. This quarter, our special topic will be "Cyber Security Preparedness: Best practices for individuals, and businesses to meet escalating cyber threats.”

 We are excited to announce that our guest speaker will be FBI Supervisory Special Agent (SSA) Daniel Gray. Special Agent Gray has been assigned to the Baltimore Field Office since April 2012 and is responsible for the management and coordination of FBI Cyber Investigations for all of Maryland and Delaware.

Prior to his present assignment he was the Assistant Section Chief of FBI Cyber Division’s former Cyber National Security Section. He also performed a dual-role in this position as the Deputy Director of the presidentially-mandated National Cyber Investigative Joint Task Force (NCIJTF).

Prior to his time at the NCIJTF, Mr. Gray served three years as the FBI’s sole liaison to the CIA’s Information Operations Center (CIA/IOC) coordinating efforts between the FBI and the CIA for overseas and domestic information and technical operations.

Special Agent Gray is a 1992 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy with a B.A. in Political Science. Mr. Gray is also a graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a M.A. in Human Relations Psychology.

Before joining the FBI in early 2000, Mr. Gray served his country as both an Air Force Intelligence Officer and an Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) Special Agent.

In his 27 years of service with the US Air Force and the FBI, Mr. Gray has received extensive training in Counterintelligence and Cyber Operations and Tradecraft, Computer Forensics, and Network Intrusions.

Mr. Gray is a recipient of the 2014 FBI Directors Award for Outstanding Technical Achievement associated with an investigative network appliance that is currently deployed throughout the FBI’s 56 field offices.
